Bought myself a pair of Wellgo WPD932 spd / flat pedals. I thought this would be nice as it would give me a choice of footwear for the MTB. Currently I have a pair of Shimano M520 pedals on the road bike, with Specialized Taho shoes + shimano SH51 cleats.

Fitted the pedals, then much cursing as I tried clipping in and out. Impossible to clip in!

I take it these Wellgo pedals, are basically a piece of crud? Even swapping the shimano cleats for the wellgo cleats it was impossible to clip in (despite having the tension to minumum).

So I took them off again and stuck the flatties back on.

However what I'm thinking of doing now is just getting another pair of atb style shoes, and Shimano M520 pedals on the MTB, and just be done with it! At least then I could use any shoe with any bike.

At least I've a pair of combination SPD / flatties paper weights....

Well, got a pair of specialized Sport MTB shoes on order and M520s.

:-) Tis only money, after all!

520's are only about 20 quid anyways. When they're that cheap it perplexes me why you'd want to buy anything else

Kato, I originally had just the Spec Taho shoes. So I thought "combination pedals! that will give me a choice of footwear for the mtb", meaning if I got the tahoes soggy one day I could then still go riding the next day by using the flat side of the pedal + trainers.

However 2 pair of shoes == use either shoe with either bike (m520s on road bike + m520 on mtb). So muddy mtb ride one day, still got dry shoes to use on the road bike the next day. Or get soaked out on the roadbike, still got dry shoes to use the next day.

Anyhoo seeing as the Spec sport MTB shoes are stiffer soled than my tahos I think I'll keep them for the road bike.

regards
