i've had LX and have got attack. i'd definately go for the attacks, IME much smoother and easier shifting and the action is more intuitive, once you've got used to it! (but that only took a few mins!)
definately go for the attack. better would be to go for X7/9 shifters and mech!
hadnt thought about a mech upgrade but i think i'll leave that for just now.
so the attacks go recommended? not likely that i'll dislike the motion of the shifting and regret the purchase.... just something different u have to get used to?
cheers for the quick response. off to checkout the price of attacks again
I have Shimano gear levers on one bike and Attacks on the other and I really do prefer the action and the finger (well thumb) position of the attacks. I highly recommend them, you won't be disappointed
if you upgrade to attacks now, you'll have to stick to shimano mechs. TBH i regret not waiting a few more weeks and doing that. yeah, it doesn't take long to get used to the motion. the only prob i have had is that sometimes on REALLY bumpy ground or jumps have knocked the lever with my thumb knuckle, changing gear, but its not a regular occurance, and i def wouldn't not buy them.
Which fingers do you like to use on your brake levers? If you like to use your first and/or second fingers, you'll get on a treat with SRAM triggers. If you favour using your second and/or third fingers, you'll prefer Shimano.
found the attack shifters for £32 for the pair. appreciate what you're saying about changing the mechs at the same time, but the bike is pretty new still (3 months) and the existing mechs are fine for my requirements.
