Thanks dave. I have just trawled through the forum and copy / pasted the bits folks have written regarding the rear shock. Digest tomorrow and have another go at it. There isn't a lot about the fork, though. Mine is soft as anything. Has only 30psi on board but the sag is within limits....weird. Anyway, everyone else seems to be running with approx 100psi in them so i will put some more in there too. Winstanleys didn't really prep the bike at all. Tires half flat, gears all over the place and fork had next to nothing in it. not great. Just cheap (£899)

paul. you should complain. bought mine from 'rydon'(michaels cycles) at bedford. they set it up for my weight. tyres nice and hard. even managed to get shimano 520 pedals at discount, and fitted. plus free service due after i've riden at coed-y-brenin.

Paul , i took some advice from this forum and changed the pressures in the rear to 125psi main and 100 spv , good bit of sag and only bobs when out of the saddle.

Thanks for the help on the shock. Just come back from Newcastleton (7stanes site) in the Scottish Borders. Bike had 150 in the main and 135 in the SPV. (I am 85kg)Was great in the woods and off the jumps but hard work on ascents. Was bobbing a lot. Gonna put more air in both chambers next time, particularly the SPV. Lost the front end a few times mid berm as well! Am guessing it was my riding, not the bike. (Got 90psi in the fork.) Didn't fall off completely, got it back each time.

just back from 2 days at coed y brenin. the vt2(and i) had no problem with the ups on red bull or mbr and just chewed up the downs. didn't struggle with the loose rocks, roots, streams, either up or down. had harder climbs in peaks, but mbr IS THE BEST trail i've ridden. stopped at B&B 1mile from coed.shame it's 5hrs from me. bike buddy not up for karrimor, so going back in jan for karrimor and more mbr. have said before but, VT2 is amazing.

Fellow VT riders. I've tweeked the front mech on my VT 2 and was looking to replace and upgrade. Anyone out there tried an XT front mech, I've heard that there could be some clearance issues on full bump.
