Lighten up guys this place is too serious!!
Endo's, manuals, stepz and general tom foolery just doesn't add up to a mountain bike in my slightly dated view on things.
Just messinn geezers. lol

Mostly echoing other people's opinons, but...
The stinky is a downhill bike, pretty much all people use it for.
For commuting in London get a cheap racer, you don't have to wea lycra with it but it will go faster and it's less likely to get nicked, if it does you won't have lost as much.
For the street/extreme-drop-stuff riding a hardtail is generally what's used, a full suss would be good on the drops but will be harder to do tricks(wheelie's and such) with.
A Norco would stand out in the crowd or you could get the more common Kona, maybe a stuff or what ever the one above is.

thanks all you people for helping me out

Do you get trolls in London?
|

lol, i looked at the savage, and thought, 'i doubt i could break that' and they're doing a freeride full suss for £1500 with dhx, and hyrdaulics and stuff, good deal
*empted by a norco, i don't think i could break it*

If you were serious (which you're not) I would suggest a coiler maybe?

If you really can do 10ft drops, rather than having simply seen someone do it on Drop-in tv, you should know that the best bike for doing stuff is indeed a BMX. BMX riders were jumping of roofs before mtb's even existed. Actually the best thing is a trials bike - where huge drops is just a standard part of riding. They, like the BMX are rigid, not even hardtails. Thats what the pro street riders use, so I reckon if they can survive them, they'll do for you......

On the side of the channel the street scene mixes BMX, trials and hardtails. The Streakx Mute is the Parisian's fave though. Google it, you'll find reviews in Japanese and English as well as a mass of forum posts in French.

I used to ride a 2002 Stinky Dee-Lux through on my daily commute to Heathrow. Bit over the top I have you, but it worked for me!
Unfortunately, it got nicked two weeks ago, and I had to get a new one - opted for an '05 Coiler Primo, which is faster, lighter and infinitely more yellow!
I never had a problem with it - you got stares, but busses and cars generally stay out of your way when you ride a monster bike (especially when you can out pedal them!!)
