My shoulder is not so bad but my collar bone is not healing and is giving me lots of jip. The Doc has signed me off work for another month, hence me loitering around bikemagic instead of doing something constructive.
My collar bone wouldn't knit James. I went along for a second X-ray and they found the bits of bone weren't in line. By using the low dose real time X-ray screen I found a position in which the bones did line up. I then made up a plaster cast rather than the figure of eight bandage and it finally set.
Hi John, mine feels like it's broken in two places though the Xray does not confirm this. The problem is similar to yours with the bone sitting on top of itself at the break rather than meeting end to end. I have to go back in another month and see whats happening.
Another month! Dylan's post would appear to be spot on. If it sets wonky you'll have limited shoulder movement (perhaps for life) and pain till the junctions between your collar bone and the rest of your skeleton adapt. Mine eventually healed reasonably straight for such a bad break after eight weeks but it was five years before I could swim hard pain free. I'm still persona non grata in the swim club due to my errant left arm.
My wife broke her collar bone so we went through the line-up the bones and make a cast routine immediately. Hers healed really quickly (five weeks). The cast was removeable because we found lying flat on our backs on a firm bed with no pillow it wasn't necessary.
Should see, what happens to people with unkown illnesses John ( Cancer ) Knew 1 girl who went through 6months of tests before they worked it out, not all the tests BANG but a test, wait for the result, book another test so 3 - 4 weeks between tests, when they finally decided what was wrong, she had 3weeks to live, ASSHOLES.
In america, they'd run all the tests and likely of saved her, but not in this shit hole.
