Set it up in the cellar with some very loud techno it works for me, if you do not have a cellar or you live in a flat then give up cyclng altogether.

Thanks for the advice that I received guys. I have just bought myself a Tacx swing for £60 secondhand, which should give me hours of tellywatching/music listening pain over the winter months! :o)

have you thought about getting a cateye gamebike? just a thought if youve got a ps2 and fancy racing round a circuit while you pedal.

No PS2 I'm afraid! Will just have to get my PC moved nearby and set up a game of "Cycling Manager" so I can ride alongside the likes of Lance Nilstrung and Jan Ulrech! (Computer games without official names licences, huh!?) :o)
