Supposed to help reduction in these Polypropylene type base layers from Ponging . After wearing one of these for a day , you really start to notice it . Years ago the lads used to call Helly Hansen gear "Smelly Hansen" . When out on the hills for a few days I find it best to dip these in water at night and a quick scrub with soap . Then hold `em by the neck and whirl `em around your head to get water out . They are dry within 20 minutes and wearable .
Don`t let yer Mrs tumble dry them tho ... I ended up with 2 cricket ball sized lumps of Black and Navy plastic :£
They've been putting silver in fabrics for a while now, originally is was put into medical dressings for the same reasons. This is the bike industry catching up to the outdoors manufacturers years after the event again. It works really well, you'd notice a difference, however merino is better.
Yeah Merino is obviously from the sheep of that name and natural , whereas the Helly`s and suchlike are Polypropylene which is Basically made from crude oil .
I was hoping the Military clothing was filtering down to us, some weird stuff ( Static mentioned ) that adapted to the conditions ie hot day kept U cool and vice versa.
