Living in Cornwall i have never needed to wear anything more than shorts on my legs in winter. Now though i am at Uni in York were it is a whole lot colder and i've been told i'm going to need more for January + February etc. Any reccomendations? I thinking more along the lines of tights rather than baggy overtrousers and i ride cross- country and road

Personally if it gets sub zero I wear a pair of cheap black cycling tights (with stirrups) under my baggy shorts. An update on the Max Wall look (although your prolly to young to remember Max Wall!!).

Lusso tights are good value and lovely and warm. Bib tights are alo well worth any extra expenditure.

endura bib tights is what you want. real comfy and you get to look like nureyev!

I prefer lycra shorts with leg warmers when its not too cold as I dont feel restricted.When its sub zero then the Endura bib tights come out but they don't half boil you.

Thanks for the replies. I have also got fleecy kneewarmers which do a good job on all but the coldest days, so i'm wary about spending a lot on something i might not wear much. May look for some in sales

Have just realised that the Enduras are way less than i thought they would be (£50 ish on Wiggle) so will probably go for some after all.
