Does anyone know of any double-sided SPD pedals that can be used with ordinary footwear if required?

I am aware of the Shimano M424/M545 etc. but I tried these & found that the SPD mechanism is still proud of the cage part & presses annoyingly into your foot.

I also have used dual-sided SPD/cage pedals but find flipping them to the correct side to be a pain in the a*s.

One possible solution I have found is made by VP. It is a resin clip-on 'cage' that clips into the SPD mechanism & provides a flatter surface when you don't want to use SPD. See link below:

yep time z freerides can be.

Thanks Luke, I looked at the Time Z Freerides but the spring mechanism in the middle looked like at would still dig into your foot in the same way as the M545's etc.

i've only tried them with the proper shoes.

Why not get a pair of DMR V8s or similar flats? You can pedal nearly as efficiently as with SPDs.
