after going for a ride yesterday and having spent most of it fighting with my gears i think it's about time i changed my gear cables, they've been bike for last 2 years so thinks it time for a replacment!

Wot do people reccommend, at the minute im running traditional cables and outers, but wondering about upgrading to sealed ones such as the avid ones or just getting a set of XTR cables. Is it worth the extra money or not? Thanks.

(p.s not sure if it matters but i've got XT shifters with a rapid rise XTR rear mech, and XT front)

I certainly think so. I've had a set of XTR cables on my hardtail for well over a year and they still run smooth and light with no maintenance.

Clarkes are good too.
i've no faults with clarks premium cables, though cutting the outers blunted a set of cable cutters and a hacksaw

bolt croppers did it though :-)

smooth-as :-)

(plus they look good, silver outers, black inners)

Mike has bolt croppers?

Bloody little bike thief!
there're actually 3 sets in our garage

so locking my bike up in there is pretty pointless on the whole...

Gore Ride On fully sealed - just fit & forget for about a year or so. Avoid the Venhill's (if they are still available) as the outers do not flex as well.
