Went out for first ride on my new lovely machine yesterday. I have finally specced a bike which will work...

However, I got two punctures..... so are these tyres liners any good?

Mr Tuffy tape, or that kevlar stuff?

Any users out there?

I've used the slime liners and they do work, but weigh a bit, if that concerns you.

I tried Mr Tuffy tape a few years ago. It was absolutely crap. Thorns went straight through and into the inner tube. Slime filled tubes worked very well though.

I'd vote for the slime filled tubes too but they do add noticable weight

i use the slime liner strips, they're excellent in my opinion

Fit tyres with thick tread. Then if you're still having problems fit slime tubes and slime liners.

Slime liners are good, help prevent pinch flats too.

Yup, slime liners NOT slime filled tubes. I've used the panaracer liners which for some reason don't seem to be quite as good. Slime filled tubes are ok for the small punctures, but seem to piss slime everywhere if the hole gets too big!

Stans or Eclipse tubeless conversion kit with Bontrager Jones tubeless ready tyres , you will lose weight and punctures will become a thing of the past IME .

I've used slime liners as well, think they're great. They do add a bit of weight and do make the tyres seem a little more solid. I hardly ever puncture, in fact I punctured once in 2005.

I had the kevlar liners for 2 years. Not a single blow out in that time.

They are a complete pain to fit straigt though. Mine are all over the place.

I don't use them any more though.

I've got the Mr Tuffy tyre liners. They do add a bit of weight but I haven't had a single puncture in the last year. Didn't stop me ripping the valve out of the tube though.
