Can anyone recommend a good front mudguard for my marin? It's got the cables running underneath the downtube so a cabletie type jobbie won't go on.

i've gear cables down my downtube on the hardrock, they even cross! and my crud still goes on without compromising shifting

they don't keep crap out of yer eyes at high speeds though, if you go fast, try the topeak defender

or wear glasses.

THE or Speedstuff make some good fender style mudguards. Speedstuff is cheaper too. They both now use a rubber bung to hold it in place rather than the star fangled nut of old which tended to mishape the bracket holding the two plastic guards.

I use this type of mudguard even though some say it's gay or whatever but I'm the one first down the muddy descent 'cos I haven't got any crap in my eyes.

I'm quite liking that speedstuff mudguard, but can't find anywhere in the uk that does them :(

Got a Defender on my Marin. Works a treat, but the frame broke the day after I fitted it. How can that be ?

Oops! Sorry i checked on the Speedstuff website and they haven't got a UK distributer.

Like I said the THE fender is just as good and a little more stylish but the price is a bit higher though chainreaction are doing them for 20 quid if you take a look here
