I was looking at bags for commuting, riding and general use. I like the look of the TSG chicksands and the Dakine Apex. They are the same price so any thoughts would be welcome.

Ok the new Deuter bags/packs look very good value with lots of features, check em' out.

I bought a quick release rack ( from wiggle ) and a panier from Halfords cos i was sick of the sweaty back syndrome.
Ive also got a couple of bottles on the frame, the difference riding home on a hot summer day is amazing, wind blowing my t-shirt all over , i feel free ... FREE AT LAST .....( as someone might have said before )

Yeah but I want to use the bag on and off the bike. I don't think I'd get on with panniers either.

You can get pannier rucksacks ... and even mine has a carry handle ... i hate rucksacks on my back ... i overheat and it just feels crap and too restrictive,

I didn't know that, but I personally prefer a rucksack on my back. It's feels more secure and stable and I only notice the sweaty back once I take it off.

I had a look at the Deuter bags Karlos but they didn't seem to have as many feature for the money.

Theres no pleasing some people.
