You could try packing out the lever if it's not too bad and use the lever to draw the skewer through the axle. Otherwise you may have to give it a good tw*tting - leave the end on to protect the thread though.I've even seen Hope skewers do this!;-) When this does happen it appears and feels that you've tightened the skewer correctly but in fact only the lever side will be tight and the wheel will be loose The forces generated from riding could cause the wheel to release. Could this be some of what we are seeing here? Ride On.
Is there anywhere that sells Shimano skewers as separates? The front skewer on my Five seem to like working its way loose, for instance on Saturday as I was coming down the Regurgitator at Leith Hill. It's not reassuring. I can't find them available at any of the online retailers without buying the hub as well, which I don't need.
Which ones are yours, Serge, the Shimano XT or Deore? The ones that came with my Five are from Kore, apparently. I've had quite a few incidents of them coming loose, once during the last Gorrick race, which lost me loads of places.
I managed to bend an xt qr inside my hub few months ago, heard something inside the hub snap as well just before i slammed into the ground n blacked out briefly. From what my mate said was pretty impressive! Thats what you get for getting a bit carried away with yr speed heading into a tree backed berm. ouch
