hi im looking for a chain guide/device for my dawes kovert(it has a isis bb) and i dont know which to use and would it be easy to fit or should i take it to LBS?

How many chainrings are you looking to have at the front 1 or 2?
Also how much are you willing to spend and also has your frame got ISCG mounts?

i only want 1 chain ring. and i know that im guna sownd thick but what are iscg mounts?

ISCG as far as I know are three small mounts around the bb holding thing and some chain devices attach to them.


I've got a Truvativ Boxguide with a single ring on my bike which doesn't have ISCG and is an ISIS bb. The boxguide is about £45 I think.

nah it dont have them. hows it held in place?

Basically the bb is unscrewed and the chain device is clamped between the bb and the frame to stop it coming out.

How much are you looking to spend on a chain device?

oh s**t one ov my crank bots has snaped LBS it is then. im not that botherd aslong as it does its job n looks the part.

Well you can spend from around £40 to around £150 it just depends on how much you are willing to spend.

would i have to use a Truvativ bash ring as well?

I don't run a bash guard on mine because on the Truvativ the chain on the top is pretty much fully enclosed. You could buy a Truvativ bashguard if you really wanted but I haven't need one so far.

yea i dunno tho im prone 2 hitting logs that i cant get over hence the snapped crank bolt. would it fit overe the bash guard that fits where the largest chain ring should be if i was using it with the smaller chain ring?

Well have a look at some different models and see which you like the look of best. The Truvativ so far is fine. On mine I have the chain ring as the outer but you can run it as a middle ring with a Truvativ bash guard.
