I'm currently finding it absolutely impossible to find pads that fit my (six year old, fairly cheap to start off with) disc brakes. I don't mountain bike as much as I did (yes, I'm turning to the dark tarmac side), so I'm in the market for some middle range v brakes. Can anyone help me here, please?

What I'd like is something in the range of the Shimano Deore brakes, which cost £40 for a full set, front and rear, at Evans Cycles. Or, my local shop are selling these for £35, down from £50. Does anyone have any experience of them? Or advice? Are there any other similar systems out there that I should consider?

I used to have deore V's, they seemed a great upgrade at the time. But they seem soo weak now that ive got discs.

The avids are pretty much the best rim brake for the money. Better than the shimano offerings.

Your wheels have rims that will work with rim brakes don't they?

When you get your bike out of the car & put the wheels back on,REMEMBER TO RE-CONNECT YOUR BRAKE CABLES !!!
