How long is the chain?? if it is too long there won't be enough tension and thus chain slip, not usually a problem with chains as transmissions all pretty similar, but certainly a important factor. Also is the b-tension screw (if there is one) wound all the way out, as this reduces the amount of chain in contact with the cassette, should be as far in as poss without contact between cassette/mech.
