I am thinking of buying an F100 RLT for use on a bike which has until now had a Float 80RL which came with the bike (I can get a good deal on an F100 and my LBS have sold out of F80s).
My question is: once the fork has been converted to 80mm of travel, will the axle to crown length be the same as on a standard F80?
I've had a look at the diagrams in the Fox manuals but I'm afraid I just haven't been able to work out how the spacing actually works i.e. why the spacer makes a difference to the crown/axle length.
You can convert the RL definitely (I did mine) by adding or removing the spacer..... pretty sure you can't change the RLC though Nick should know better than me in his line of work. You mention RLC and RLT - I'm not sure about the RLT. Have a gander at the online manuals as it says which ones you can convert.
Like Nick says, if you convert the F100 to 80mm by putting the spacer in then they should be the same crown to axle length as the stock F80.
FrankM you can probably convert your Float 80's to 100's no need to buy new. Most floats have this ability just by altering internal spacers. Think only ones you cant do are 80RLT's
Anybody know if it's possible to convert F80 RLs to 100mm?
Not that I'd definitely want to, just might be interesting to try it out.
I emailed Mojo to see if they could convert my F90 RL to 100mm. They said they could not but could be converted to 80mm. I recon F80 is probably the same.
Oooo lookie, here's me replying to a thread over 2 years old. Back then, you could go from 80 to 100 by removing the spacer (I know, I had one on my Epic). Now with the RL80 you can't increase travel (I know, had one on my Giant). But you can go from 100 to 80 like it says in the Fox manual. Oh how things change.
2 years in it is a redundant question by now though I'm sure. Is resurrecting old threads to see if anyone notices the new troll thing?
