Anyone had a problem with their Camel Back bladder weeping water after you have stuffed if into backpack? I think mine is weeping from around the screw cap but not entirely sure. Has anyone else had experience of this and if so how you solved the problem.

Yep, lost about half of a three litre light cordial mix on a ride recently. I just thought I was sweating like a pig (as is usual).

I find the screw cap is very tight on the threads so it sometimes doesn't seem to seal all the way, might try a smear of vaseline on the sealing ring.

I was baffled by fluid loss from what appeared to be a perfectly good bladder.

It was condensation.

Cut the thingy off which holds the screw cap on. The screw cap will seal much better. Well, it worked for me anyway!

You really need to screw it tghter than you think - whic unfortunately makes it difficult to remove often IME

Just be careful when you come to fill it up because you'll more than likely forget that the screw cap isn't attached any more and drop it on the floor, or, worse still, in the sh*t at a feed station on a Merida (yup, done it!)

I find if you screw it up too tightly it compresses the seals too much and leaks. I usually just nip mine up, and have had no problems.

Another tip, if you don't think you're actually going to need the full 3 litres then don't put 3 litres in. Less chance of leaks. If you are then do it up but don't overdo, then rummage around the back pack to check nothing is squeezing it too much.

I had a leaky bladder once, the doctor stuck his finger up my arse and told me it was my prostate, funny that!

Make sure it has the seal on the screwtop - I once bought a MULE and wondered why it was leaking all over my back at Coed y Brenin - when I took it back it became apparent, no rubber seal!!!!

Another point to look at is the bottom seam. I've had two leaks from the seam splitting. Super glue dribbled onto the area and left to harden over night works the trick.

mine developed a hole in the fabric. something pointy had its way with it. you can't repair them apparently so it got replaced.

guess thats what happens when you store it in you box of bike parts... not hugely intelligent in retrospect

After a closer inspection of the O-ring seal I realised it had perished and split. Wonder if I can get Camelbak to send me a replacement?

Contact the shop you bought it from and they will get it replaced. A friend of mine had his replaced last week. Easy.
