I'm thinking of getting an SDG I-beam post and saddle in order to shave a bit of weight from the jolly green giant (saddle and post only 405g). I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of them at all? Also is it only SDG who produce I-beam stuff (i.e. it's not licensed to anyone else)?

Seems to solve a problem that doesn't exist IMO.

I don't think there's a seatpost/saddle combination lighter than you can get a normal seatpost and saddle, and the limited choice of saddles really puts me off.

I was trying to work that out; I found an I-beam saddle for 127g and the post is about 260g. The thing is I want a light saddle but not a razor-edge roadie thing!

I've seen one break... admittedly it was way back in the clamp (too far imo) but the rider involved is far from what you might call "extreme".

I wouldn't buy one!

hmm, interesting. although peaty has I-beam on his santa claus DH bike

127g is bloody light, but 260g isn't, so it rather cancels itself out in that respect!

if you read the reviews they say not very comfy

My mate will be well chuffed that he's bust something that Peaty uses!
