Looking for a new lid for regular XC/singletrack riding,need something that can take a good whack.
Seen the Giro Animas 06 on Wiggle for under £50.

I'd pay a bit more and get a Hex or a Xen. They look a bit better IMO (tart I know) but they also fit better and have enough protection / venting to be used for any kind of riding. I use my Xen happily on all three of my bikes. (XC / FR / DJ)

I got an Animas about 15 months ago. Well vented, comfy all day long and for general XC use, I rate it highly.

Highly rate my Animas too. Hex is only £45 at the minute if you prefer something more MX/FR styled.

No, as if they don't fit you get blisters.

It was free with the bike (Pedalon podium points) and unlike shoes is very adjustable. Fits me perfectly.

Most helmuts are adjustable. I bought the Casco Viper of CRC and just measured the circumfrance of my head and got the right size.

Unless you already know Giros fit you better than others you'd need to try some. I really wanted an Animas but ended up with a Met 5th Element because it fits my head so much better which, as Carlos pointed out, is the name of the game.

Aye, I go on the fact I know how big my head comes up in a Giro.

And the fact that CRC will do stuff for 30 quid less than a shop, and being a student I need that 30 quid!

how about a trip to a large departmant type cycle store (DON'T try this at your independent LBS as its blatently taking the p155)

And try a few lids and shoes you like the look of find out what size you need then off to CRC just remember if an over enthusiastic memebr of staff helps you the line "they feel a bit tight" or "they feel a bit slack" how will they know ;-)

Yeah, thats pretty much what I do! Halfords would be ideal, but they never more than one nice bit of overpriced kit per section anyway!
