Thinking of buying Sigma 1606L wired cycle computer and cadence kit but have seen the wireless version at a very good price. Having bought a wireless one in the past (Halfords own make) and knowing that the signal wouldn't reach from the fork to the handlebar, I wonder if anyone is successfully using this Sigma model? The cadence sensor will have to reach the handlebars from the crank. Any assistance appreciated.
Don't go wireless, - from my own experience wireless gives nothing but problems. I've had both cheap and expensive models in the past & to be honest a complete waste of time and money.
Save all the hassle and get yourself a cateye with the heavy duty wire - sorted.
Get wireless but make sure that it's DIGITAL wireless then you will have no problems with it. I've had a VDO one for a while now and it works flawlessly.
I had a wireless VDO and real problematic with signal recieving. Wear a Polar F6 HRM and this could have been one of the problem areas - no such issues with wired.
I used to have two wireless computers on two different bikes and both worked fine on their own. I then got a GPS and discovered that this throws the computer out and it reads silly speeds/no speed at all.
Your discussion is the only one I've found online that discusses the Sigma 1606L computer. I was wondering if anyone with experience using that computer can tell me about the countdown/up timer and how it works. I was wondering whether or not the timer can be set to restart itself after it reaches the set time interval or does it only count up or down and stop? Also, does it only beep when the time is reached or is there a display flashing or something like that?
Thank you all in advance for any input you might have. Seems you have a very helpful group here.
http://www.sigmasport.com/en/produkte/bikecomputer/topline_wireless/bc1606ldts/?punkt=features On Sigma's website you can download the manual. I started this thread and did eventually buy this model, the wireless version. Sorry I can't advise you on the function you want, I spent about 5 minutes trying to make it happen but the manual is horrible and I gave up. Other functions all work fine, cadence is excellent. Wireless works fine. Only downside is the manual and the way some of the functions work, but you do get used to it. Oh, and if you do buy - there are 2 ways you can mount the computer, on the bars or on the stem. You do this by unscrewing the unit and spinning it 90 degrees . Be warned - the screws will scratch your stem. It's fine if used on the handlebars.
Ty for your input, Martin. I've read the manual online also and can't figure out how the timer works! LOL
You'd think if it was an "interval timer" (which they don't say), it would restart, etc. However...
It seems like a great computer value, but I *need* the restart timer and hopefully with some sort of display of the timer end status instead of simply a beeper. I hate to admit it, but I can't hear my watch timer anymore and would like all functions to be on the cyclometer if possible anyway.
Got it to work! Okay, you can set the timer to count up or count down. It can be reset at will, but it's a bit fiddly. When it counts down and reaches zero - It goes into negative numbers. You can keep the countdown display on screen at all times if you need to. There is no beep on the unit to tell you it has finished. If you navigate away from the screen with the countdown there doesn't seem to be any way to know zero has been reached without going back to this screen. Hope this helps.
