Which is best to go for....the lx 11-32 cassette with chain for £32.95......or the xt 11-34 cassette with chain for £42.50?

Get Xt, the difference in quality is amazing. The Lx is a plain cassette, Xt is a superb piece of kit on a 4/5 arm carrier. I own both, xt is miles better

Personally, I'd go for a 12-27 Ultegra, £27 from CRC and get a Sachs PC-971 from
here
for £12.50.
If you need to bail to the granny ring the drop from 32 to 27 is hardly noticeable.
Average weight for XT is 264g and Ultegra is 210g.
