This year just like last year I have negated to use my bike during the winter months, it hasn't always been like this two years ago I rode to work right through the winter. What has happened is that 2 years ago I was quite happy to ride around in jeans, but since I got so used to wearing shots I just cant bring myself to get on a bike wearing jeans for long journeys.
I need to get cycling trousers and stop getting the bus, I cant bring myself to wear proper tight cycling trousers, but I don't want anything too baggy because it will cause too much drag. I was thinking of getting <a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150081466961&rd=1&rd=1> these</a> would they be a good compromise, or do I need to look elsewhere?
Ron Hill Tracksters or Bikesters are ok for commuting and general riding, they are not too tight but not baggy, usual price about £20, wiggle sell them for £12.

How about some altura altitude trousers. Not waterproof, but shower and wind resistant, and will be more comfortable over a range of conditions than those.
I'm just starting commuting and am also wary of looking too much like a pro racer! Don't want to wear overtrousers and don't know if I can do full tights just yet. I did look at Pearl Izumi AMFiB wind/water resistant tights http://www.cyclesurgery.com/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/1024958/groupID/14/categoryID/77/v/c8f21d1b-5842-452a-87a2-8b193a118d99
But if you check out the parent site for Pearl Izumi they have the same kind of pant in a loose fit called Ridgeline Pant
