Organised by the Kielder Trail Reavers,who are keen to raise the profile of Kielder Water and Forest Park as a mountain biking venue. Heavily involved from the outset with this volunteer group,The Bike Place, who have a shop in Newcastle, and a Mountain Bike Hire Centre in Kielder, have stepped in to be main sponsor, and hope to promote this as an annual series.
The series will have 3 rounds for 2007 all sanctioned by the Trail Cyclists Association;
3rd March - The Winter Warmer
Using various laps of a 22km course depending on class.
31st March - The Border Raid
Probably the only UK race to be held in two countries! Starting in Kielder, heading accross the border to Newcastleton in Scotland (and using the Red grade MTB trails) then returning to finish in Kielder, approx 60km. A shorter 24km course will be used for some classes.
26th May - The Hot Trod
Using various laps of a 30km course taking in the new Red and Black grade trails built by Kielder Trail Reavers.
Prizes and hot food available at the local pub after each event. There will also be challenge trophies for series winners in each class, donated by The Bike Place.
Proceeds from these events will support both KTR and The Great North Air Ambulance.
