Its seem on the site there is currently no review for the DiNotte light system. So I thought I would submit my own.
For those not in the know Dinotte lighting systems are incredibly light and very powerful. This is acheived by using the best LEDs around. I think my whole units weighs under 250grams inculding batteries, yet gives about a 15watt output. So I will keep it short but here are the highs and lows.
The lows first:
Not the brightest only 15watt about 120 lumens, however this is on one light the elite series comes with two lights and you can always buy another later on, I am.
Expensive, about £120 and when you get it you will say 'I paid that, for that' but the shock will pass once you start using it.
thats it for the lows.
The highs:
Incredibly small. Incredibly light. Very bling. The simplest and yet most effective clamping system. Runs on AA x 4, the Elite series uses Lithium Ion. The burn time is 2 hours + on high beam but with a spare set of batteries you have massive burn time. Batteries available anywhere and can recharge in an hour. The strobe setting is amazing, with this setting you are really can be seen by cars, I have seen cars slow just because they can not figure out what the hell it is. The price whilst expensive is still less than many of the other high end LEDs out there and this unit holds it own. Due to its size it is also flexible enough to work on a helmet. I purchased this light for communitng, the problem with most other decent lights is there ridiculous charging regimes, not much use if you need a light that can run everday.
So if you want a fantastic light get one of these units, if you want an amzing one buy the dual lithium system. However i think having two AA units would offer far more flexibility.
I disagree with the 15watt claim, they will not be 15 watt LEDs putting out 120 lumens, thats a 5 watt LED. I don't disagree in the slightest with the rest - it sounds good.
They are 5w Luxeons, the exact same as in the Exposure Turbo, so 10W total for 2 lights
One of the bike mags did a revue this month of lights and the Dinotte was marked down due to its bad light distribution, but they liked all the other aspects of it
The Exposure Turbo has better light distribution, longer lasting batteries (2.5hours to 8.5 hours and a 5 day flash mode (yes it does annoy motorists)) and was given the top marks for all the LED lights
Not true. They use outdated LEDs, and there are now far better ones available - my homemade light gives out 240 lumens with 4W power input (and 400 lumens at 8W)! Alternatively my modded Exposure Joystick has ~200 lumens at 4W and 2 hours runtime for 85g.
Simply replaced the stock Luxeon LED with a U-bin SSC P4. Or that would be "simply" were it not that it's actually quite hard to take one apart to get at the LED. Of course it also invalidates your warranty if that bothers you.
