I've got a Ford Galaxy, and need a rack for 4 bikes. I've got a towbar mounted rack already with a f..k-off big tow-bar back plate, which sets off the parking sensors when in reverse. Maxxraxx racks look novel but do they work - grateful to know, or a steer to any review sites. Cheers
i used to have a tow bar mounted rack, sold the vehicle and didnt get another, saw a van totally demolish 2 bikes on a rear tow bar rack, the car stoppped , the van didnt, lots of damage to the car and bikes.
and was delayed for ages after a boot rack slipped off a car after the straps came loose on the a55 going to north wales, the bikes got run over by a lorry, and the police closed the road for a few hours with us stuck in a traffic jam, not a pretty sight for both types of rack.
On the subject of tow bar mounted rack I have a home built - safe and pretty tidy 2 bike tow plate mounted carrier to fit a Land Rover Defender - Free to a good home if anyone wants to pick it up (Leics). Has fixed light board and std plug. Hmmm I miss my Defender!!
Thanx for the tales of doom. Just before Xmas saw a bloke drive out of our local retail park, with an expensive new mtb from Halfords on the roof, to see it taken clean off by the height restriction bar at the exit!!!! Wot larks.
