My mate's got a pair of old school square taper syncros aluminium cranks he wants to shift. I was considering buying them off him but the cost of new rings put me off when I could get a new chainset for the money. It has got me a little sentimental though, about some of those left of centre bits that we used to own that performed no better than the rest but just felt good. What is this stuff worth now? I remember my old 'the way forward' elevated chainstay Alpinestars with the sexiest Campag Record OR brake levers, XT Thumbies and Ritchey Logic cranks...
I agree with you matey on every point except the "better" part. Some bits make you feel "better" but aren't as light or strong as the new stuff. And... are you using the royal we or am I on a non-sentimental forum ;)? I'd love a snowflake wheel!?!?
NOOOOOOOOOOO it's gotta be about more than just looks, whatever happened to a nice personality? If it was purely about looks then we'd still be on Raleigh Choppers (the old ones with the circumsition contraption) or the modern day equivelant HERE.
I had a ride on one of those^ last week and it's a real bitch to steer/keep straight/ avoid buses/turn/stop. But certainly turns heads when ridden around the City centre. Plus it adds a bit of a challenge to riding in traffic.
