I have recently upgraded from a set of Manitou Axel Comp forks on my Trance 4 to a set of Marzocchi Pro ETA (100mm) forks. I was out for the first time at the weekend and they seemed very rattly. I realise 1 side is sprung and the other is air but I still thought they were noisy. Has any one else come across this before if so does it disappear with time ? P.S. They were fitted by my LBS.

I know that you LBS put them on, but are you sure it was a fork not headset?
I was using few Marzocchi forks for last 8 years and never had problems...maybe check the air pressure...

I had a new headset installed at the same time so you would hope that the headset is not whats rattling. I am 100% sure that it is from the fork. I checked the air pressure also and that was fine.
Hold the front brake and rock the bike back and forth and look at what the forks are doing, if they seem to be loose then I would take them back.

Yes, I know what you're thinking but it wasn't that that was as rattling.
I see. I sometimes get creaking from the BB any ideas?

Whenever my bottom bracket creaks it comes off gets cleaned whacked back on, only tighter this time. I find this generally works.

Marzocchis squelch and gargle and all sorts but mine never really rattled. I think they seemed to click when they rebound to the top though. When do you hear the noise, is it all the time? Or when compressing/rebounding ?

Ali,
Generally all the time, it is more of a tinny rattle, mainlty to left leg, nothing major just annoying
Might be a loose component. :P

Disc zinging against the pads?

It is definitely coming from the fork, it rattles when shaking without the wheel in place. Looks like I will be taking it back!

Are you sure it's not the disc hose loose in the clamp or catching on the forks some where.
I picked up a new set of MX pro 100 at the weekend and run v's. The v's rattle but the forks are still tight.

Dropped off at LBS today, their initial view is that it is an internal rattle from the left leg. They will strip it down to find the cause of the rattle or replace the complete fork. Cheers anyway.

Fork is being returned to Windwave for a full strip down, New set of forks on their way back to me, only problem without bike for the weekend.
