Don I have a set of these and they are bloody great! The damping is far superior to that on my Pike's and they are super adjustable if thats your thing. The only downside to these forks is there is no preload adjustment but this has not affected me since changing the spring. They also look and feel quality - get them cheap on fizzbike too :)
Don I got mine direct from Tim Flooks (tftuned.com). They're a bit more pricey but they come custom tuned for you and the kind of riding you do with correct spring, oils etc. Plus you get £70 off the first service. Dugs is right - they absolutely rock on whatever you chuck at them
Got some Lyrik 2 step airs. First rides down Snowdon, around CYB last week and Swinley this Sunday. Awesome fork, and if that is anything to go by, the coil will be sweet too. Maxle very nice feature as well. Had Fox before, and no regrets so far going with these Rockshox.
I just swapped to the coil u-turn lyriks from some Fox 36 TALAS. These are just so much better. The damping is amazing, and the adjustability is brilliant. A really good hard hitting trail fork. Admittedly they are a bit heavier than the air-spring TALAS but the performance improvement is well worth it for the type of riding i do.
I've got them on a 7 Point with a Roco Coil rear-end and find it's a brilliant trail bike that i can go downhilling on! Putting the Lyrik's on it transformed the bike. very happy!
Yeah, to be honest the 06/07 TALAS's were pretty awful! I know of a couple of people who have them who have been very, very dissapointed in them. I think the main issue was that you couldn't set up the travel soft enough to work yet no blow through the travel.
I have the new 2008 Vans and they're lovely; a friend has the 08 TALAS's and they also superb.
This is interesting. I want 160mm forks on my BFe.
I like the Zocchi 55 ATA's. They are the cheapest and the lightest, but I'v heard they have a problem with the air leaking between chambers.
I like the Fox Talas 36, but I know so many people who have had reliability problems with Fox Forks
I like the Lyrik 2 Step, but again I know of problems with this.
I was wondering if the Coil UTurn Lyrik would be just be like a bigger version of the all ready proven reliable Pike.
And it seems so.
So I think I'll be getting one of them....
But how easy is it to change the spring? does it have buttons to fiddle with the settings or is it as simple as getting the right spring and forget it?
