I see some of your local landmarks suggest the Chorley area. Nip to Merlin as they often sell off overshoes and they have a good discount on winter boots too at the moment.
im asking due to doing a lot of evening rides as im prepping for a jaunt to france and since the weather recently has been poor i got caught out cycling over rivington and belmont and got winter aches on my feet and i dont want it to happen again
ive only recently been introduced to clipless and previously wore walking boots so hence the question
If you are having to get off the bike lots then winter boots would be a better suggestion! Otherwise you'll rnd up putting two wraps of gaffer tape around you're feet to keep them on(is that the right amount DH??). Or you could prepare for next winter with some Shimano MWO2, Northwave Celsius or the diadora chilli extreme to name but a few! They'll be going cheap at this time of year! Also as the chap before says try Merlin they'll have good prices!
nice one thanks, yes i live near chorley, little known village called charnock richard where a bike shop called buy a bike resides.
thanks for the info, now to get the CC out before the wife gets wind!
btw would you buy a size larger than required? as ive read reviews of other winter boots and they suggest getting a size larger due to wearing thicker socks?
I once asked that in a shop, (Sunset Mtb, Cardiff)...I was buying some x-lite blanker bolts, they didn't have the right thread size in but reckoned they'd be in by the end of the week...I pointed out CRC were selling them for (IIRC) £5.95 so I'd get them from there instead.
They quite simply said..."to be honest mate we'd have bought them off there and sold them for £9.95 anyway"
I really like my Shimano MT90 boots and recommend them, if you're after clipless-specific boots.
They're the walking boot-style ones (complete with GoreTex lining and Vibram sole) and I wear them all year round, as they offer great ankle protection.
