My 2005 commencal Supreme 6.1 has 9mm skewers with Commencal Quick Releases. Unfortunately they have a habit of coming undone when the riding gets particularly bumpy! I've tried to source 9mm hope skewers on Wiggle/ CRC/ Evans with no luck. My LBS is also struggling to get the parts from Hope (is 9mm that unusual?). Any ideas on somewhere I can get hold of a set of decent 9mm skewers?
Thanks both for your help. Apologies for being thick, but what is the measurement for the length of the skewers? I thought it was from the inside edge of the QR to the end of the Skewer (in my case 135mm front and 170mm rear), but a very helpful CRC rep said it should be 'locknut to locknut'? Does this mean the inside measurement from the QR to the bolt on the other end of the skewer?
Presumable the rear is awkward, as you need to ignore the cassette....
Nope, the rear is locknut-to-locknut too - the locknut is outboard of the cassette otherwise the cassette would hit the dropout :-) 135mm is the standard rear hub. As Mike says, 9 and 10mm are the standard F and R _axle_ diameters. Conventional QRs are 5mm shafts. Anything should fit, just get a Shimano Deore one.
