I've just (accidentally) bought and XT rapid rise rear mech but have LX rapid fire shifters, why ist it that people say they don't work well together & what's different about the dual control shifters.

i assume if i use the RR r/mech with the RF shifters the finger leavers will work the opposite way round than normal, is this the same as with dual control?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times but it's got me all confused and wiggle aren't helping much at the mo.

I've used rapid fire with rapid rise for years now Adam. It's works very well. Your thumb changes you to a higher gear and your finger shifts to a lower gear. It doesn't suit everyone though.

aye, I like rapid rise with dual control, but I can't get on with it on rapidfires. DOn't know why, just doesn't feel right

What Mike said. I found shifting a RR mech with RF shifters very easy to get on with and now have trouble trying to shift with a 'normal' mech. It somehow feels wrong now.

Though if I get the shadow XTR I'll have to revert back to former ways :(
