Ive got the shimano winter gore-tex booties and they are ok but not warm - im thinking of getting overshoes for them and in hindsight should have gone for the Lakes!!
As soon as I get around to writing it up I'll be posting a review of Specialized's Defrosters. In a nutshell - jolly good. Properly waterproof (unless it goes in over the top, of course), notably lightweight, Body Geometry niceness.
I've got a pair of these. They are excellent, they work until water get's in over the top. They look chunky but are actually quite lightweight. Great for walking in should you need to, warm and comfy. Also come with removable gator(sp).
Been waiting for a decent review of those Mike as my old MW01's have seen better days. That said, they were fine yesterday with sealskinz & Endura Stealth longs.
I ordered some Northwave Celsius J GTX's from www.wiggle.co.uk, they are on sale at the moment and good value at £80. If you decide to order these please learn from my misfortune.
I have now ordered 2 pairs and about to get a 3rd due to the misleading sizing chart and the small sizing of Northwaves.
I am a UK size 11 normally (Euro 45) so I ordered this size and it was very small. So I ordered the 46, and still this was too small. To allow room for a decent sock and room to move toes for circulation to keep feet warm I will need to order a size 47!
I have north wave celsius too and they are warm and waterproof. I got mine 14 months ago and used them winter and right through summer. I went out a few weeks ago when it had been pouring down for ages and my socks got wet so i bought some gore-tex waterproofer and put it on and they are cock on again good for another year and the spary was only £5 too. RECOMENDED. Im a size 11 too but i got 46 and they fit as i only wear normal sports sock with them so there is plenty of room for me.
Thanks for all the feedback - I also ended up getting a pair of Northwave Celsius, and am pleased with them so far, and yes - good value at the current price (I paid £79.99). I had to get one UK size bigger than I would normally take, this allows me to wear a pair of thick socks with them.
