Never had one but this isn't the first time I've heard of one breaking. Think it was someone on here a while back who said one of the linkage bits cracked.
John - mine snapped in October still under warranty but they replaced with a re-designed rear end. Linkage is now flat cast item rather than tube and is welded almost the full way across the linkage between the chainstays- they must have had a load of failures to go down the road of a re-design and manufacture getting them shipped from Asia to US and then UK. Alloy frames have a 3 yr warranty but even though I was within warranty they had my frame for 6 wks and only sorted it when I threatened to get trading standards involved.
You need to go via Litespeed dealer or contact American Bicycle Group in Swindon and have your receipt if your within the warranty period. However if you're over three years then you still have a case via Sale of Goods Act as the product should be "fit for the purpose". If you google then there are a lot of failures particularly in the US to use as ammunition.
If you need phone or email address contact in warranty dept I can dig these out - good luck!
By the way all the new rear ends are gun metal grey as these are fitted on the Ti frames which have an alloy rear end as well.
Ummm, I guess this means I shouldn't put mine thru the Megavalanche then.... No cracks, creaks, groans as yet. Mind you I haven't looked too hard under the mud!
My Niota was itself a warranty replacement for a Tomac Eli - which also had a weld cracking problem, where would I stand with regard to Warranty on the Niota ????
Yep, that's the new one. It looks awesome, and has the beefed up swingarm so shouldn't have the issues with the old model. Saying that mine has been used & abused with no sign of damage - yet!!
Registering the warranty may be a problem as it is normally conducted through the retailer / importer.
Hey Vernon. I am having real trouble setting up my front mech on the new Niota frame.
I spoke to Litespeed (ABG) and asked what front mech to use. They said either a top swing or bottom swing. I had an XTR M971 bottom swing lying around so fitted that. However when I am in big ring, the edge of the cast swingarm hits the cable clamp on the mech.
So I bought a top swing XTR M970 and fitted that. I took the air out of my shock so I could see if the same would happen.
However, now, when I am in granny ring, I have compressed the rear end by hand to full travel, but before I reach full travel the cast swingarm touches the back plate of the front mech. Also, the front mech is as far down as it can go, it JUST misses the big ring teeth!
Ahhhh.......its so frustraing. I have called Litespeed UK, ABG, Litespeed US, Paligap but they have never heard of this problem...........I just can't see why not?
Does anyone have the new frame with the rear cast swingarm? If so what front mech do you use?
If it's any help I'll see what's on mine (LX i think) & get back to you - i rember it was a pain to set up. And the cast (drool! )swingarm does look a buit wider & deeper than the old version.
