So, assuming i dont get a new Epic on warranty, what frameset to go for?

I wouldnt go Epic again, as that two frames ruined now due to mystery bottom bracket thread related issues.

I am tempted not to go Specialized again, but their bikes just have something about them that makes me think 'i want one'.

Stumpy or Enduro? both £2500 for frameset. The 08 Enduro seems much beefier than its previous incarnations. Maybe too beefy for my needs (considering i have been riding 100mm travel Epic). I Ride natural trails, 7 Stanes, occasional endurance race.

Stumpy seems the way to go if you're used to an Epic.

Having said that, I've long lusted over the two most recent incarnations of the Enduro. 

I am leaning towards Stumpy, as its just so lovely, and seems to be aimed at the riding i actually do. I have wanted one since the 08 S- works model came out. But of course couldnt buy one as i had a perfectly good S-works Epic.

Or not Spesh at all. although as i am replacing bust frame, needs to be a frameset only option.

Hmm...  I've ridden a Giant Trance recently and was impressed.  It rides well and has excellent suspension, but I'm not sure if it will compete with the Stumpy or Epic in terms of weight.

You could try a carbon frame? 

Out of interest , what is it about an S-works in particular that makes it worth £1k more than the top 'normal' model, for example?

Obviously there's the bling factor and it'll be a bit lighter, but as I see it the top normal models would offer 95% of the performance, wouldn't they?
