I am interested in buying some prescription cycling sunglasses with an optical adapter for my prescription lens and interchangeable lenses for different conditions.

I found a company called rxsport (www.rxsport.co.uk) online and I am considering something like the Rudy Project Rydon Rx.

Has anyone out there used rxsport to buy prescription glasses before and are they ok? or would I be best buying them elsewhere without the prescription lens and getting this done at my local opticians. Are there any other online companies you would recommend?

Also any comments on the Rudy Project glasses or suggestions on alternative makes/models would be most appreciated.

Yea , I'm after some as well, I can get away with non prescription glasses at the moment cos my eyesights not that bad.

Have you tried tha high street yet .. Boots , Specsavers etc.?

My high street is ok if you want some 'designer' prescription sunglasses but I am after some that are more suitable for cycling eg wrap around to stop flies getting in your eyes, different lenses for different conditions, quite robust etc.

My transition lenses (bought on the high street) are good in the sun but not very good in dull/low light and are falling apart. Hence I am looking for a better alternative.

If you do not need a prescription then I have heard that DHB are good and cheap (sold at wiggle) - it is just a pity that they do not do any prescription versions.

Boots do sell 'sports specs' and so do the rest of them .... , and yes they are the wrap around style.

I asked at Boots last year and she pulled a catalogue from under the desk, they use a another company , but because they didn't have any in-store I just walked away.

I also asked at Specsavers , they also have a catalogue hidden away , the assistant asked me if I could come back later cos they guy that deals with sports specs only works mid-week  - I didn't bother , but apparently prices start from £60

Went to boots yesterday and spent 6 quid and got a voucher for half price sunglasses and Boots opticians prescription sunglasses. valid until 21 june 2008. Boots opticians 0845 120 4343.

I just got some for £150 from optilabs with photochromic lenses and used em for the first time yesterday around Bolton Abbey / Embsy Moor and they were fine. Turn around was about 10 days I think. I was a bit dissapointed not to receive any care information with them as a £150 is a fair bit of cash. I also use contacts but getting something in your eye going DH is a nightmare and glasses can't always stop that happening when you're wering contacts.

I've just switched to soft lenses too and so far they seem ok for biking with but I'd rather have less pain wearing prescription glasses than fumbling around with a lense if something goes in me eye!

 I got the Canyon in brown. good and comfy with a rubber nose bridge thing so they don't slip at all.

Yeah I had no problem with the order process. Maybe it was a browser problem?

Their website is a bit crappy , doesn't give you much confidence in them. BM5  , did you provide your credit card details on-line , or did they phone you after you had completed your on-line order ?

Thanks for all the responses - I think I will probably go with Optilabs too.

I now think this is a better option than having interchangeable lenses.

They recommend Optilabs mirror finish or polarised lenses for road cycling rather than the photochromic lenses (which they recommend for off-road use) - Has anyone got any experience with these lenses?
