Some time back I bought a second hand Giant XTC carbon frame and built it up to a be light weight hardtail and its great, the only niggle is it came with a Specialized seat clamp and it will not hold the Thomson seat post in position, the harder I ride it the faster it slides down until the offset prevents going any further.
I have tightened it as much as sensible given the seat tube is carbon and it still last less 15 mins before it needs reclamping.
So can any one recommend a quick release clamp that actually works, is not made from iron girders and does not cost silly money.
Wipe seat post with some turps or white spirit to remove any grease or oil residue, use a dry cloth for the inside bore of the frame, apply a liberal coating of hair spray to seat pillar, and insert into frame, this should hold seat post tight, also check the threads on the seat clamp,to make sure theyre not worn.
