iirc its a pretty standard rim. if its just XC riding, and you're not a larger framed person, i see no reason why its not suitable. could well be more to do with the quality of the wheel build...
true that, i've been beasting a 317 on the front of my hardrock for a long time. i'm particularly heavy on kit and it's still perfect. i'd say it's more down to the quality of build
i'd just ger a new rim built onto new spokes. re-using spokes is silly, and given that the rim has been trued a number of times, i'd cut you're losses and get a new one... built properly!
No it isn't, unless they're obviously damaged in some way and you haven't taken them all out of the wheel already. If the wheel's going out of whack regularly under normal use then it was undertensioned to start with, it's as simple as that.
