OK panel, I'm sat on the fence, unable to make my mind up. I've got J7s on my 6.6 and I am going to upgrade the front 180mm rotor for a 203mm as I'm off to the Alps next week.
One part of me says play safe and get a standard Avid G2 rotor, another part of me says get a lighter maybe better rotor like a Hope floating jobbie or the new Magura with the alloy spider.
First question is would either of these rotors works with J7s, second, would there be any benefit or I am just pratting around ?
ECB info is interesting but I have already bought the puka Avid 203 IS adaptor so my focus is purely on a new rotor and if poss a light weight rotor because I have a bit thing with rotational weight.
I'm using a Hope 203 floating rotor with a Juicy7. No problems but I had to use an extra washer between the adapter and the caliper to give enough clearance. If you go for it, make sure you use the one for the 6 pot as the 4 pot one has a slimmer braking surface.
cheers Mike and JJ, even though I don't like Hope kit I am leaning towards their floating rotor at the mo, I will check out the gusset saw ones before flashing the plastic, mucho grassy arse
Mike, its looking like they don't do a 203mm rotor which seems odd but I guess there will be a reason, shame because they look good value, Hope might be getting my vote after all.

Like you'd notice the difference a couple of grams makes when it's that close to the hub?? Surely you'd go for something that WORKS properly over something that WEIGHS a few grams less, especially seeing as you're taking it over to the Alps???????????
Well in the end I played safe and bought a standard G2 at a good price from MTB Direct.
As for my Welsh friend not understanding me well thats cool, each to their own although I don't recall asking for understanding, I do remember asking for advice & opinions
