Forks for a giant VT2

My friend has a iant VT 2 frame that he has just bought , he now needs some new forks for it, any advice on what would suit the frame, i was thinking maybe some rockshox recon or some pikes, he doesnt have a huge ammount of money to spend on it and may tranfer alot of the kit off his hardtail.
Any suggestions would be great.

i had one of those and had 150mm marzocchi am 2's on it,pikes would be good so would vanilla 32's.
