Hi

After five years of loyal service, my XT shifters are starting to show their age.  I don't really want to go down the SRAM road and replace everything, so my choice is spend £80 on the XT 25th Anniversary shifter and rear Shadow mech set, or spend the £80 on XTR shifters and continue to use my 2005 XT rear mech.  What would you do?  Many thanks

I got the XT 25th Anniversary set and it's been great so far.

I would buy the XTR now and put a new mech on at a later date.  They really are lovely shifters.

Get XTR if for anything just that I think they're the only ones where you don't have to hacksaw that pain in the ass waste of space indicator that come on all the other shifters.

XTR, so much better than the XT ones, you'll bugger your mech up sometime in the future, go Shadow then!

The current M770 XT shifters come with removable indicators and include a blanking plate so you have the optiion of running with or without indicators.

New XT are very nice and you can just remove the indicators without an Hacksaw

Thank you for the advice.  Decided to spend the extra £35 and get the XTR, also bought a XT Shadow mech.  cheers

Good choice, having the XTRs and buying a set of XTs thinking they would be similar, ah the disappointment.
