Simple question, which should I buy for my rear tyre? I am looking at Kenda Nevegal 2.1" or Conti Mountain King 2.2". I ride mostly South Downs area, so I will be dealing with hardpack, soil, mud and roots (no rocks). If anyone has direct experience of both I would be interested to hear the pros/cons of either. I have a set of Panaracer Trailrakers for full-on mud, but whichever tyre I go for it would be helpful if it could still handle a little mud without too much complaint and (ideally) roll reasonably well too.
Interesting, I must admit that looking at the Mountain King I didn't think the tread would be aggressive enough for anything too muddy. All the best for the SD double, what time of year are you planning on doing it?
Never used Mtn Kings so I can't compare, but use Nevegals stick-Es 2.3 front 2.1 rear. They are good to excellent in most situations and conditions, except on tarmac where they are noticably very draggy. Also the stick-Es on the rear don't last that long before the centre tread starts to look very worn down. They are the best summer tyre that I've bought and I've also been happy with them this summer in the wet and mud, but I don't have a massive reportoire of rubber experience.
Yes I always use sealant, just wondered if the bead would click into place nicely. I've never tried none UST tyres on my UST rims you see, young fella me lad.
