reply to JoE, mineral oil isnt' hard to find for shimano discs, went to my small LBD and they had it. The hoses don't need to be cut because it's something you specify when you buy your brakes. They make a wide range of lengths so you can get one to fit right. And you can't use shimano hose with Hope, different specifications and different end fittings.
I have C2s, and I have no problems with them - I have only managed to pump them up DHing in the Alps, they have been fine even for the Dragon courses in the UK. Little to no maintenance, and they are now relatively cheap. The other thing I like is that I can run the lever with the bite point close to the bar, which isn't possible with the Enduro. However the Enduros weigh less, are more powerful and are an open system, so if I was buying now and I had the money I would get Enduros, and adjust to the preset bite point. But if you are on a budget, the C2s are a great brake...
thanks guys this forum thing is pretty bloody usefull. thanks again. hope to see you out there soon. oh yeah if your after a HARDtail buy an on-one GIMP...hard as hell!
Ridden both and: C2's great, but a bit of a faff. (despite what they say, even on short downhills). E4's awesome stopping and no faffing. Just get 'em set up properly so they don't rub and keep them (relatively) clean so you don't get some calipers sticking more than others.
