If all you have to do to 'unclip' is lift your foot away then how precisely is it of any use - you can't pull up with it as you'd just lift off...

There are a lot of people out there who would really like to feel more "Clipped in" than just riding flats, my wife one, but they dare not go the full hog as they fear being unable to get unclipped.

As the article says

"Designed for recreational cyclists who want something halfway between the freedom of flat pedals and the security of clipless pedal"

"the simplest approach for someone who might want the benefits of a full-blown clipless system without making the perilous plunge"

The pedals feature QRM sealed bearings for low maintenance and are two-sided for easy engagement. A cromoly axle and aluminium pedal body keeps the weight down, and there's integrated reflectors.

Shoe choice is currently limited to the Wanderer, available for men and women. The Wanderer is along the lines of shoes like Shimano's MT52, providing a semi-rigid sole with a Contragrip outsole and brushed suede and mesh upper.

"Of more interest to 'serious' mountain bikers are the rumours of a brand new mountain bike pedal,"

I don't see how this offers anything that a set of long grub screws wouldn't give you.

Except perhaps fewer shin scars.

Must be a chuffin' strong magnet, and by the sound of it, it doesn't sound like it gives much, if any, float.

I've got iron feet, so this will be a boon for me and riders like me
And they would surely make one go faster as the wheels would be drgged or pushed up hills
