I bought a 2008 Spec Rockhopper a while ago and have since upgraded with some decent Hope Brakes, nice Handlebars, seat post, Seat blah blah blah.

Having spent pretty much the cost of the bike so far on other kit (I know - I should have just got a more expensive bike - I have started so I will finish) I am after a new set of forks. I use the bike weekly for long Cross Country rides over hills, along trails and downhill - Lake district type stuff. I have a budget of about £350 and ideally want something that I can lock out remotely without having to take my hands off the bars. The bike came with very average RockShox Tora 302 SL with 100mm travel and to be honest these seem pretty crap.

I would be very grateful for any expert or anecdotal advice on what to go for. Cheers

Rockshox are god in my opinion: I have 07 Reba' on my bike 9 (selling for £190 0n Amazon), very good and extendable to 115mm, but 09 ones are supposed to be even better.

I would look for a model with u-turn capability to crank the forks down on a climb and extend if you do a lot of descending, the revelation might be worth a look. have alook at merlin for some deals.

Gribble thanks for that - There are a set of 08 ones with remote lockout for £250 with Merlin = is this a good price?
