BIG shoes

If you have size 50 feet like me, finding shoes is a problem. However, Chain Reaction currently have a number of different Shimano models in stock in freak size, most quite a lot cheaper than the usual standards like the Sidi Dominators (which I haven't been impressed with this last year).

Worth a look. Even if you don't need them right now, it might be worth stocking up while stocks last. Also, hopefully shops will start getting the message that there are plenty of people like me/us who need bigger shoes, and keep them as standard stock.

Perfect timing, I went round a few shops this weekend looking for some new shoes, nowhere had size 49's in stock. So I was going to risk it and just order some sidi dominators on line, what did you not like about them Monty.

Cramped toes/loose heels (latter led to the fabric/padding getting worn away at the heel, which also ripped my socks open).

Tended to skate around over Time cleats; thought I just needed to get used to them, but it's always been more of an issue clipping in than with SPD sandals or my old Northwaves.

Sole slopes inwards to a narrow footprint, so your ankle can roll over quite easily while walking.

Ratchet  mechanism seizes up if it gets clogged with mud/heather.

Because of the cramped toes (I don't have wide feet) I had to remove the insole, and the hard surface underneath gets uncomfortable on long days in the saddle.

Summary - race shoe; in fairness that's what they're designed for, rather than the big days I do, but I had no choice, they were the only shoes available at the time I needed them. I've just got a set of Shimanos that fit much better out of the box.

Is this just a subtle attempt to let the ladies know you two are well endowelled in other areas?

laughs at the man with little feet.

Pete if you don't have wide feet then Shimano will be fine, only the newest Shimano stuff fits my wide & reasonably long feet @ size 47

Up till then the only shoes that fitted my feet for all day comfort was Specalized. I really don't get on with ratchet straps so just tend to stick to velcro closures or laces.

Just had a look on CRC and there are some good deals on shoes

If the man reads this, do you know if any of these in a size 49 are available, or are they discontinued.
