Rode with a solid seatpin on Sunday and sore back returned - conclusion is that sus post does make a big difference.
A big parcel from USE arrived yesterday with a shiny new XCR and a note apologising for the inconvenience I've had through my post breaking. Considering the seatpost went in the mail at 5pm on Thursday, I'm very impressed - top customer service!
I've got the 'old' XCR, and I think it's great. I'm sure it enables me to ride harder for longer. Bought it around 3 years ago, and have replaced the bushes once (easy peasy). Obviously doesn't do the job of rear sus, but is worth having.
sorry andy, I didn't mean that the 'old' xcr was pants, I thought it was great as well (needs thick grease for damping though?!), but I'm a bit clumsy and I broke the mount (whilst riding). Use did replace it for free though...
Iain - I hadn't taken your comments as criticism! Just adding a bit of background. Now, while on the subject of USE, what has happened to their take on the parallelogram post which looked great even in pre production form, and sounded as though it was the biz - but hasn't made it into production... Shame, I was saving up.
