I would be interested if anyone else has suffered complete brake failure with these brakes. Mine have been totally un-reliable with the levers twice going to the handlebars no hydraulic pressure although no evidence of a leak. The second occasion almost caused me to crash during a high speed descent

I'd call up the Magura service center (01530 837195 or email service_uk@magura.de) and they'll get you sorted out, they're very helpful.

erm, same thing has happened to me twice in traffic with my deores. both times in the same week, weather hot and dry.

Yep, A bloke called Nick who is on the scott dh scholarship had this happen while we were out in France - he fractured a vertabra in his back, and that's why there was no Scott Scholarship round at Aston Hill SAMS, cos the Scott people took the decision that it wasn't safe to use the brakes... apparently there is chat about this problem on the Magura website, which would tend to suggest that it's a reasonably current problem - but not one which Magura are addressing...

Scott send their DHers out on Claras? Scary. Apparently not limited to Magura, either? I haven't had any experiences like this with mine (except for my master piston failure, but it's all sorted now).

Scot were replacing all of the scholarship brakes with next year's models at the Hamsterley NAMBS.

There was a problem with these - I think it was the seals. There was a recall and the levers were replaced on my Giant.

The brakes were still crap in my opinion so I changed to Giant MPH's and have been happy since.
