Warmer with less rain would be a priority. 

lived in edinburgh over the summer and it was ace. could easily see me living there after uni (like everyone from st andrews seems to). however canterbury (NZ) seemed a nice place to live, as did a couple of towns in canada. those are all places i could settle in, but i reckon sapporo or shanghai would be great to live in for a couple of years.

my plan for next summer is to find a nice internship abroad for a couple of months... wonder if that will inspire me a bit more...

Once spent a week in the in the Pinzgau region  of Austria, mind shouldn't tar all austrians with the same brush.

Have also been to a couple of other areas and enjoyed it. Finkenbourg was nice

Innsbruck is in Tirol, Pinzgau is in Salzburgerland (ca 100 miles apart).

In general Austrians don't have the same great sense of humor as the British but they still know how to have fun and party.  It's not know as the Apres Ski capital of the world for nothing.
